Live at the Rotterdam Ahoy
Live at the Rotterdam Ahoy captures Deep Purple on 30 October 2000 in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, during the 2000/2001 Concerto Tour. It came out on Thames Records on 7 November 2001, and it sits between Abandon in 1998 and Bananas in 2003 in the band's story. The genres here are hard rock and symphonic rock.
The Concerto for Group and Orchestra was played that night but is left off the record, because of legal requirements, according to the liner notes. What remains is a mixed set: newer and older Deep Purple songs, a few solo pieces written by individual members, and two songs first recorded by guest Ronnie James Dio. That blend of band and guest material makes it a curious snapshot of the tour.
