Amnesiac
Amnesiac is Radiohead's fifth studio album, released on 30 May 2001. It was recorded with producer Nigel Godrich during the same sessions as Kid A, and the band split the material across two records because they felt it was too dense for a double album. The same mix of influences runs through it: electronic music, 20th-century classical, jazz and krautrock. It closes with "Life in a Glasshouse", a collaboration with the jazz trumpeter Humphrey Lyttelton and his band.
Where Kid A had no singles, this one came with "Pyramid Song" and "Knives Out", and the former was later named one of the decade's best tracks by Rolling Stone, NME and Pitchfork. It went to number one in the UK and number two in the US, earned a Mercury Prize nomination, and won a Grammy for its special edition packaging. Some critics found it less cohesive than its predecessor, but it rewards listening as a companion piece.
