Sounding the Seventh Trumpet is the first studio album by the American band Avenged Sevenfold, released on 24 July 2001 on Good Life Recordings. Its title comes from the Book of Revelation, specifically the sounding of the seventh and last trumpet in chapter 11, which announces the end of the world. The record sits in the heavy and alternative metal camp, with a strong metalcore streak running through it.

It is the starting point for a catalogue that runs on through Waking the Fallen, City of Evil and beyond, so it is well worth hearing for the band's earliest sound. Valary DiBenedetto, later M. Shadows' wife, sings on "The Art of Subconscious Illusion". Hopeless Records reissued the album in March 2002 with slightly different cover art, and a first vinyl pressing followed in the US in 2008. It began modestly, but has since sold 370,000 copies worldwide.
