What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce: 1987-2000
What I Learned About Ego, Opinion, Art & Commerce is a compilation from American rock band Goo Goo Dolls, gathering songs recorded between 1987 and 2000. It came out through Warner Bros. Records in July 2001, and it isn't a standard greatest-hits set: most of the band's biggest songs, "Iris" and "Name" among them, are left off.
Instead, the tracklist draws on all six of their albums, running backwards from Dizzy Up the Girl and A Boy Named Goo to Superstar Car Wash, Hold Me Up, Jed and the self-titled debut. It mixes album cuts, singles from before their 1995 breakthrough, fan favourites and a few of their less successful singles. Every song has been remixed and remastered. "Naked" is extended, "Two Days In February" is re-recorded by Rzeznik, and some tracks gain longer instrumental passages. It suits listeners who want the band beyond the radio hits.
