Album
The Hunting Party
The Hunting Party is Linkin Park's sixth studio album, released on 17 June 2014 through Warner Bros. Records. It followed the electronic, experimental leanings of A Thousand Suns and Living Things with a deliberate swerve back towards heavier guitar music. Mike Shinoda called it simply "a rock record", and he and Brad Delson produced it themselves, the first Linkin Park album since Meteora made without Rick Rubin.
The band wrote much of it improvisationally and finished it in under a year. It also brought in their first guest spots on a studio album, with Helmet's Page Hamilton, System of a Down's Daron Malakian, Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello and Rakim all appearing. Reviewers welcomed the return to a heavier sound, it debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200, and Revolver placed it fourth among its best albums of 2014.
