Linkin Park are an American rock band who formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996. Their early sound fused heavy metal with hip-hop, and it arrived at the height of the nu metal scene. Hybrid Theory (2000) made them international names, helped by heavy MTV airplay and singles such as "One Step Closer", "Crawling" and "In the End", which reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100. The album went on to be certified Diamond in the US. Meteora (2003) followed in much the same vein.

From Minutes to Midnight (2007) onwards, they kept shifting shape: A Thousand Suns (2010) leaned into electronics, The Hunting Party (2014) went back to a heavier attack, and One More Light (2017) was a pop-leaning record. Chester Bennington's death in July 2017 led to a seven-year hiatus. The band returned in September 2024 with vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain, and released From Zero that year.
