Foo Fighters
Foo Fighters are an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1994 by Dave Grohl, who began the project to release his own songs after Nirvana ended. He recorded the self-titled debut of 1995 mostly alone in six days, then recruited Nate Mendel, William Goldsmith and Pat Smear to play it live. Their sound runs from grunge-rooted alternative rock to harder, more muscular hard rock.
The Colour and the Shape, Foo Fighters, There Is Nothing Left to Lose and Wasting Light are the records most people return to. Wasting Light, produced by Butch Vig, brought Smear back full time, while In Your Honor split its two discs between acoustic and heavier songs. The band has won 15 Grammys, including Best Rock Album five times, and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. But Here We Are followed in 2023, with Your Favorite Toy arriving in 2026.
