Queens of the Stone Age
Queens of the Stone Age are an American rock band formed in Palm Desert, California, in 1996 by Josh Homme, who started the group after Kyuss came to an end. Homme is the only constant in a shifting line-up. Their sound is riff-driven and rhythmic hard rock, shot through with blues, electronica and krautrock, with Homme's falsetto and unusual guitar scales giving it a character of its own.
Songs for the Deaf (2002), with Dave Grohl on drums, is the record most people reach for first, and Rated R (2000) brought "The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret" and a major label deal with Interscope. After a spell of inactivity they moved to Matador Records, and ...Like Clockwork (2013) became their first number one on the Billboard 200. Era Vulgaris (2007) is also well worth your time.
