Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam are a rock band from Seattle, formed in 1990 by guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament, who had previously played in Green River and Mother Love Bone. Guitarist Mike McCready and vocalist-guitarist Eddie Vedder completed the core line-up, which has stayed fixed ever since. Drummers have come and gone, with Matt Cameron the longest-serving, from 1998 until 2025. Alongside grunge, their sound takes in alternative rock, hard rock and some experimental turns.

Their debut, Ten (1991), kept a place on the US Billboard 200 for nearly five years and has been certified 13× platinum. Vs. (1993) and Vitalogy (1994) both broke first-week sales records of their day, and Yield (1998) is also among their most played records. The band avoided music videos and interviews, took on Ticketmaster in 1994, and spoke out on political causes. They entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017, their first year of eligibility.
