Temple of the Dog
Temple of the Dog were a Seattle rock group formed in 1990 by Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell as a tribute to his late friend Andrew Wood, singer with Malfunkshun and Mother Love Bone. Joining him were Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, both formerly of Mother Love Bone, guitarist Mike McCready and Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron. Eddie Vedder guested on lead and backing vocals.
Their sound sits between grunge, hard rock and alternative rock, and it all lives on one self-titled album, recorded in November and December 1990 at London Bridge Studio with producer Rick Parashar and released by A&M in April 1991. Pearl Jam's debut, Ten, followed four months later, and the record found a wider audience once that band broke through in 1992. The group reunited in 2016 for a tour marking the album's 25th anniversary, their first and only run of shows.
