Blind Melon
Blind Melon are an American rock band who came together in Los Angeles in 1990. Their take on alternative rock leaned towards neo-psychedelia, with touches of blues rock and folk rock, and it brought them critical and commercial success in the early 1990s. They are best known for "No Rain", the 1993 hit that carried them well beyond the grunge crowd they were often lumped in with.
Their first two albums, Blind Melon (1992) and Soup (1995), came out on Capitol Records. Singer Shannon Hoon died on the band's tour bus in New Orleans in October 1995, and after a four-year search for a replacement the group dissolved in 1999. The remaining members reformed in 2006 with Travis Warren on vocals and made For My Friends (2008). Warren left soon after, returned in 2010, and the band has played occasional gigs since. They have been nominated for four Grammy Awards.
