Soup is the second studio album by Blind Melon, released in August 1995 on Capitol Records. It followed their 1992 self-titled debut and was the last record to come out in vocalist Shannon Hoon's lifetime. Reviews at the time were mixed, and sales were modest: it reached number 28 on the US Billboard 200 and had sold 217,000 copies in the States by October 1996.

Hoon died of a drug overdose two months after release, which brought the promotion to an abrupt halt and held the record back further. Over the years it has been reassessed, and it is now often described as a "dark horse" of alternative rock. For anyone who only knows the band from their debut, it is the place to hear where they went next, and the last chapter before their long gap ahead of For My Friends in 2008.
