Album
One Hot Minute
One Hot Minute is the sixth studio album by Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on 12 September 1995 on Warner Bros. Records. It followed the huge success of Blood Sugar Sex Magik, after which John Frusciante, uneasy with the band's fame, quit mid-tour in 1992. Dave Navarro, formerly of Jane's Addiction, joined in 1993, and this is his only studio record with the group. Rick Rubin produced again, with sessions at the Sound Factory in Hollywood running from June 1994 to February 1995.
The sound leans away from funk towards heavier riffs and the occasional psychedelic turn, largely thanks to Navarro. Anthony Kiedis, back on cocaine and heroin in 1994 after more than five years sober, wrote with a reflective eye on drugs and their damage, so the mood is dark and melancholy. Flea takes lead vocals on "Pea". The album reached number four in the US and produced "Warped", "My Friends" and "Aeroplane".
