Tragic Kingdom is No Doubt's third studio album, released on 10 October 1995 through Trauma Records and Interscope Records. Matthew Wilder produced it, and the sessions were spread across 11 studios in the Greater Los Angeles area between March 1993 and October 1995. It was the last record to feature original keyboardist Eric Stefani, who had left the band in 1994. Its mix of rock, pop and ska suited the moment well enough to help drive the ska revival of the 1990s.

The record gave the band their biggest success. It reached number one on the Billboard 200 and topped the charts in Canada and New Zealand, and it has sold over 16 million copies worldwide. Seven singles followed between 1995 and 1998, among them "Just a Girl" and "Don't Speak", the latter topping the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart. The band earned Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Rock Album, and toured the record for two and a half years.
