The Crusade
The Crusade is the third studio album by Trivium, the American heavy metal band fronted by Matt Heafy. It came out in October 2006 on Roadrunner Records, produced by Jason Suecof together with the band themselves. It follows Ascendancy, and it sits at a clear turning point in their story.
Where Ascendancy leaned on a metalcore sound, this record draws more openly on thrash metal. Heafy also changes his approach, singing mostly clean vocals instead of the screaming heard on its predecessor. In the UK it reached number 7 and later earned a silver certification, while in the US it entered the Billboard 200 at number 25. It's well worth hearing for the sound of a young band deliberately reshaping itself.
