The Condensed 21st Century Guide to King Crimson: 1969–2003
The Condensed 21st Century Guide to King Crimson is a two-CD compilation from the English progressive rock band, released on 16 October 2006 on Discipline Global Mobile. It boils down two earlier box sets, The 21st Century Guide to King Crimson, Volume One (1969–1974) and Volume Two (1981–2003), which came out in 2004 and 2005 respectively.
The title's date range tells you the scope. The set follows the band from In the Court of the Crimson King in 1969 through to The Power to Believe in 2003, taking in the 1970s records, the 1980s run that began with Discipline, and the later albums such as THRAK and The ConstruKction of Light. For anyone wanting a compact route through more than three decades of King Crimson, without committing to the larger boxes, it is a sensible place to start.
