Live in Central Park, NYC 1974
Live in Central Park, NYC 1974 is a concert recording from King Crimson, issued in 2000 through the band's Collector's Club on Discipline Global Mobile. It was taped at the Schaefer Music Festival in New York's Central Park on 1 July 1974, and it carries liner notes written by guitarist Robert Fripp.
The date matters. This was the final performance by the band's 1970s line-up, and the last King Crimson show before the group re-formed in 1981. It comes just after Larks' Tongues in Aspic and Starless and Bible Black, and in the same year as Red. For anyone who follows the band's story, it captures the closing night of that first era, and Fripp's own words add context to it.
