Absent Lovers: Live in Montreal 1984
Absent Lovers is a two-CD live album from King Crimson, recorded at the Spectrum in Montreal on 11 July 1984 and released on 23 June 1998. It draws on the early and late shows played that night, the last date of the tour supporting Three of a Perfect Pair.
Its place in the band's story matters. These were King Crimson's final live performances until October 1994, so the record captures the end of the 1980s line-up that made Discipline, Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair. It is a good way to hear how that run of albums sounded on stage. Anyone who wants more can turn to the two complete shows, issued in 2024 as the last release in the King Crimson Collector's Club.
