Live at Plymouth Guildhall May 11, 1971
Recorded at the Guildhall in Plymouth on 11 May 1971, this double CD captures the Islands line-up of King Crimson at a very early stage. It was only the band's fifth live show and their first in the UK. It appeared in 2000 through the King Crimson Collector's Club, with a UK and European release in December that year.
The set comes from the original soundboard tape, mixed by Peter Sinfield, with an audience bootleg used to patch the missing opening of "Get Thy Bearings". Drummer Ian Wallace wrote the liner notes, and he is clearly proud of his playing on "Sailor's Tale", joking that he might have to steal the part back from himself. It's a useful document of a short-lived Crimson, heard just after the studio album Islands and before the band's sound shifted with Larks' Tongues in Aspic.
