The Beat Club, Bremen 1972
This live album captures King Crimson on German television, recorded for the show Beat Club in Bremen, West Germany, on 17 October 1972 and first broadcast on 25 November. It came out in 1999, issued through the band's Collector's Club, with liner notes written by guitarist Robert Fripp.
What gives it interest is the timing. This was only the second outing for the line-up that would go on to make Larks' Tongues in Aspic, following a show in Frankfurt four days earlier that later appeared as Live at the Zoom Club. So you are hearing a new band at the very start of its life, before the studio album arrived in 1973. The video of the performance also appears in the deluxe Larks' Tongues in Aspic box set, if you want to see it as well as hear it.
