USA
USA is a live album by King Crimson, released on 25 April 1975, some seven months after the line-up that made it had split. Most of it was taped at the Casino in Asbury Park, New Jersey, on 28 June 1974, with "21st Century Schizoid Man" taken from a Providence, Rhode Island, show two days later. It follows Red and sits at the end of the band's 1970s run.
The record has an interesting back story. Violinist David Cross had been fired soon after the recordings, and his parts were poorly captured, so Eddie Jobson, then in Roxy Music alongside John Wetton, added violin to two tracks and electric piano to "Lament". Robert Fripp and Wetton oversaw the mix. It opens with a short excerpt from Fripp and Brian Eno's (No Pussyfooting). Later editions restore the full Asbury Park set without the overdubs, so there are several ways to hear it.
