Physical Graffiti is Led Zeppelin's sixth studio album, a double set released on 24 February 1975. It was the first record to appear on their own label, Swan Song, on Atlantic. Eight new songs were recorded in early 1974 at Headley Grange, a Hampshire country house, where the band had room to improvise arrangements and experiment. Those tracks filled just under three sides of vinyl, so they added seven unreleased songs left over from the sessions for Led Zeppelin III, IV and Houses of the Holy.

The result roams across hard rock, progressive rock, rock 'n' roll and folk. The die-cut sleeve, designed by Peter Corriston, proved tricky to manufacture and held up the release after the mixing was done. It went in at number one in the UK and number three in the US, and was followed by a US tour and five nights at Earl's Court in London. It has since reached 16× platinum in America, and it rewards anyone wanting the band at their most expansive.
