Houses of the Holy is Led Zeppelin's fifth studio album, released on 28 March 1973 by Atlantic. It followed the untitled fourth record and finds the band stretching beyond their blues-rock foundations. Two members had set up studios at home, which gave them room to work out more sophisticated songs and arrangements. Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham played everything themselves, with Page producing and Eddie Kramer mixing.

Several tracks became regular features of the band's concerts, among them "The Song Remains the Same", "The Rain Song" and "No Quarter". The title track was held back and only surfaced on Physical Graffiti in 1975. The sleeve, the band's first by Hipgnosis, draws on a photograph taken at Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. Reviews were mixed at the time, but the record sold strongly, reached Diamond certification in the US, and later placed 278th on Rolling Stone's 2020 greatest albums list.
