Album
In Through the Out Door
In Through the Out Door is the eighth studio album by Led Zeppelin, released on Swan Song in August 1979. The band recorded it in just three weeks across November and December 1978 at ABBA's Polar Studios in Stockholm, a long way from their usual haunts.
It is the group's last album before John Bonham's death in September 1980, after which the remaining members disbanded. John Paul Jones and Robert Plant wrote most of the material, as Jimmy Page and Bonham were often absent from the sessions during their struggles with heroin and alcohol. That shift in who held the pen gives the record a different character from its predecessors. It was a big seller, reaching No. 1 in the US, UK, Canada and New Zealand, and it makes a fascinating final chapter to hear.
