Sacrament
Sacrament is the fourth studio album by American groove metal band Lamb of God, released on 22 August 2006 through Epic. It followed Ashes of the Wake from 2004 and came before Wrath in 2009, so it sits right in the middle of the band's rise from cult favourites to a major-label force.
The record did well on release. It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 8 with first-week sales of 63,000, became the top-selling heavy metal album of 2006, and won Album of the Year from Revolver magazine. "Redneck" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance in 2007, though Slayer's "Eyes of the Insane" took the prize. The album was later certified Gold by the RIAA in September 2019. For anyone exploring the band's heavy, rhythm-driven sound, it is a natural place to start.
