New American Gospel
New American Gospel is the debut studio album by Lamb of God, released on 26 September 2000 through Prosthetic Records. It was the first record to appear under that name, as the band had previously been known as Burn the Priest. It also marked the arrival of Willie Adler on guitar, taking over from Abe Spear.
The sound draws on death metal, grindcore and groove metal, and it is a rawer proposition than the band's later work. Metal Blade reissued a remastered version in 2006 with four bonus tracks, and a note on the inlay owns up to the rough edges, putting them down partly to time constraints and heavy drinking. That grit is much of the appeal for anyone who wants to hear where the band started. The album has sold over 100,000 copies in the United States.
