From Mars to Sirius
From Mars to Sirius is the third studio album by French band Gojira, released on 27 September 2005 through Prosthetic Records. It follows Terra incognita and The Link, and comes before The Way of All Flesh in a run that would eventually take the band through to Fortitude.
It's a concept record, built around a space-travel story about the rebirth of a dead planet. Environmental concerns run through it, and beneath them sits a shift from war towards peace. The music draws on death metal, groove metal, progressive metal and post-metal, so the heaviness comes with a sense of scale to match the tale. It was well received on release and has since earned a place in Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest metal albums of all time.
