The Way of All Flesh
The Way of All Flesh is the fourth studio album by the French band Gojira, released in October 2008. It followed From Mars to Sirius and came before L'Enfant sauvage, and it sits in the death and progressive metal camp that the band had been building across their early records. Listenable Records put it out in Europe, with Prosthetic Records handling the US release.
It is very much a home-grown record. Joe Duplantier produced it, and most of the work was done at the band's own studio. The drums were the exception: they were recorded in Los Angeles with Logan Mader, who engineered them and also mixed and mastered the whole album. Duplantier painted the cover too, as he had for earlier releases. In the States it entered the Billboard 200 at number 138 and topped the Top Heatseekers chart, a sign of Gojira's growing audience.
