Europe

Europe are a Swedish rock band who formed in Upplands Väsby in 1979, led by vocalist Joey Tempest and guitarist John Norum. Their breakthrough at home came in 1982, when they won Rock-SM, the Swedish Rock Championships, in the first year the competition was held. Their sound sits across hard rock, glam metal and heavy metal.

Their first two albums did well only in Sweden, but 1986's The Final Countdown took them worldwide. The title track reached number 8 on the US Hot 100, and "Carrie" went to number 3. Out of This World followed in 1988, and the pair are their two US top 20 albums. After splitting in 1992, they reunited in 2003 and have made seven albums since, from Start from the Dark (2004) to Come This Madness (2026).
