Poison
Poison formed in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, in 1983 and became one of the defining names of glam metal. The best-known line-up pairs singer and rhythm guitarist Bret Michaels with drummer Rikki Rockett, bassist Bobby Dall and lead guitarist C.C. DeVille. Their sound mixes hard rock muscle with big, singalong hooks, and it carried them to more than 65 million records and DVDs sold worldwide.
Look What the Cat Dragged In, their 1986 debut, broke them through, and Open Up and Say… Ahh! went five times platinum in the US. Flesh & Blood, their third album, became their best seller. Along the way came "Talk Dirty to Me", "Nothin' But a Good Time" and "Every Rose Has Its Thorn", their Billboard Hot 100 number one. Native Tongue, from 1993, still went Gold as grunge reshaped rock, and the original line-up reunited for a tour in 1999.
