Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy Osbourne was born in Birmingham in 1948 and co-founded Black Sabbath in 1968. As their lead vocalist he sang on the band's first eight studio albums, among them Black Sabbath, Paranoid and Master of Reality, helping to shape heavy metal itself. He was sacked in 1979 over problems with alcohol and other drugs, and later returned to the band several times, singing on their final album, 13, in 2013.
His solo career began in the 1980s with guitarist Randy Rhoads and bassist Bob Daisley. Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman remain his most celebrated records, alongside Bark at the Moon and No More Tears. He made thirteen solo studio albums, the first seven certified multi-platinum in the United States. Sharon Osbourne's Ozzfest festival and the reality series The Osbournes also made him a household name. He died in July 2025, days after a final show in Birmingham.
