Motörhead were a London band formed in 1975 by bassist and singer Lemmy Kilmister, guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox. Lemmy wrote most of the songs and was the only constant member through to the end in 2015. He always called them a rock and roll band, and their speed and attack won them fans in both punk and metal circles. They are often seen as a forerunner of the new wave of British heavy metal, and their influence reached thrash and speed metal. Lyrics dealt with war, abuse of power, excess and, most famously, gambling.

Their best-selling records mostly featured drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor and guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke. Overkill and Bomber (both 1979), Ace of Spades (1980) and the live No Sleep 'til Hammersmith (1981) made their name, while 1916 is also among their best-loved albums. From 1992 the line-up was Lemmy, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee.
