Scorpions
The Scorpions are a German hard rock and heavy metal band, formed in Hanover in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker. Singer Klaus Meine has been there since 1969, and the most successful line-up, with Matthias Jabs, Francis Buchholz and Herman Rarebell alongside the two of them, ran from 1978 to 1992. Early records like Fly to the Rainbow and In Trance featured guitarist Uli Jon Roth. Lovedrive (1979) then steered them towards a more melodic rock sound.
The run from Animal Magnetism through Blackout, Love at First Sting and Crazy World made them a major international act, and they became the first heavy metal band from a non-English-speaking country to find success worldwide. Love at First Sting holds "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and the ballad "Still Loving You", while "Wind of Change" from Crazy World became an anthem of the era after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Rock Believer arrived in February 2022.
