Album
In Trance
In Trance is the third studio album by the German band Scorpions, released on 17 September 1975 through RCA Victor. It arrived after Lonesome Crow and Fly to the Rainbow, and it marks a clear change of direction. The progressive leanings of those first two records gave way to a hard rock sound built on shorter, tighter arrangements, and the long, extended suites of songs like "Lonesome Crow" and "Fly to the Rainbow" are gone altogether.
That shift is why the album matters in the band's story. It sets out the approach that would later carry Scorpions to worldwide success. It is also the first of two studio albums with drummer Rudy Lenners, and the first to carry the band's now-famous logo, alongside artwork that proved controversial. If you want to hear where the group's sharper hard rock identity begins, this is the place to start.
