Rhythmeen is ZZ Top's twelfth studio album, released on 17 September 1996 through RCA. It follows Antenna from 1994 and comes before XXX in 1999, so it sits in the late-1990s stretch of the Texas trio's long career. It's also the last record they made with Bill Ham, who had produced them for years.

The band work in blues and blues rock here, the territory they'd been rooted in since their early albums in the 1970s. For anyone who knows them mainly through the glossy sound of Eliminator and Afterburner, it's a chance to hear them in a rawer, more blues-minded frame. It's worth hearing as the close of one chapter in the band's story, and as a bridge to the records that followed.
