Hero of the Day EP
Hero of the Day is an EP from Metallica, released by Sony Records in October 1996. It takes its title from a song on Load, the band's sixth studio album, which had arrived the same year.
The release sits in the middle of a busy stretch for the band. It followed the self-titled 1991 album and came just before Reload in 1997, so it belongs to the Load-era story, when Metallica were moving through a very productive and much-discussed phase of their career. For anyone tracing that period, it is a small but telling piece of the picture.
