The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re‐Revisited
The $5.98 E.P. – Garage Days Re-Revisited is Metallica's first extended play, released in August 1987. It is made up of covers of new wave of British heavy metal and punk songs, rehearsed in Lars Ulrich's soundproofed garage before being recorded in Los Angeles over six days.
It arrived after the death of bassist Cliff Burton and was the first record to feature his successor, Jason Newsted. Coming between Master of Puppets and …And Justice for All, it works as a loose, quick-fire document of a band finding its feet with a new member, playing songs that shaped its own sound. Fans curious about Metallica's roots will find plenty to enjoy here.
