Whitesnake's self-titled seventh album, often known simply as 1987, is the record that took the band from a British blues-rock favourite to a fixture of American arenas. It came out in March 1987 on Geffen, following Slide It In (1984), and it marked a shift towards a glossier glam metal look and sound.

The singles are the draw: "Still of the Night", "Here I Go Again '87", "Is This Love" and "Give Me All Your Love ('88 Mix)". "Here I Go Again" topped the Billboard Hot 100, while "Is This Love" reached number two. The album itself peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, held off the top by U2's The Joshua Tree, and reached number eight in the UK. It has sold over 25 million copies worldwide, and earned a Brit Awards nomination for Best British Group in 1988. If you want to hear how Whitesnake became a radio and MTV mainstay, start here.
