Stone Temple Pilots' second self-titled album, sometimes nicknamed The Butterfly Album, came out on 16 March 2018 through Rhino. It is their seventh studio record and the first to feature Jeff Gutt on lead vocals, after he joined the band in 2017. It follows the first self-titled album of 2010, and its alternative and hard rock sound carries on from there.

The record arrived after the deaths of two of the band's singers, original vocalist Scott Weiland and Chester Bennington, who fronted them for a time. Both are remembered in the liner notes, which gives the album a reflective edge. Four singles preceded it: "Meadow", "Roll Me Under", "The Art of Letting Go" and "Never Enough". It is worth hearing as the start of a new chapter for the band.
