Shangri‐La Dee Da
Shangri-La Dee Da is the fifth studio album by Stone Temple Pilots, released on 19 June 2001 through Atlantic. The band recorded it between January and April 2001 in a Malibu villa, working once more with Brendan O'Brien, who produced his fifth and final record for them. It was also their last album before they split in 2003.
It began life as a planned double album and ended up as thirteen tracks, moving from heavy, distorted songs to psychedelic-tinged rock and acoustic ballads. That range is what critics tended to praise. "Days of the Week" became a rock radio hit, and "Hollywood Bitch" was the other single. It sold less than its predecessors but still reached the US top ten, the Canadian top five and Gold status in both countries.
