Album
Oceania
Oceania is the eighth studio album by the Smashing Pumpkins, released on 19 June 2012 through Martha's Music. Billy Corgan produced it with Bjorn Thorsrud, and it forms part of Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, the band's 34-track project. A live performance of the record, Oceania: Live in NYC, followed in September 2013.
It marks a moment of change in the band's story. Guitarist Jeff Schroeder appeared on his first Pumpkins studio album, while bassist Nicole Fiorentino and drummer Mike Byrne made contributions on what remains their only record with the band. Byrne took the place of original drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Oceania debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 and was well received by critics, which makes it a worthwhile stop for anyone curious about the band's later years.
