Album
Living Things
Living Things is Linkin Park's fifth studio album, released on 20 June 2012. Mike Shinoda and Rick Rubin produced it, as they had the band's two previous records, Minutes to Midnight and A Thousand Suns. It was the last Linkin Park album Rubin produced and the last made at NRG Recording Studios. It sits in a mix of alternative rock, electronic, pop rock, rap rock and industrial rock.
After the years of experiment behind those two records, the band said they felt they had reached "familiar territory" and were "comfortable in [their] own skin". The result draws on elements of all four earlier albums to find a fresh sound. The title reflects the many personal subjects it covers. "Burn It Down" led the way, followed by "Lost in the Echo", "Powerless" and "Castle of Glass". The album went straight to number one on the Billboard 200.
