Nobody’s Perfect
Nobody's Perfect is a live album by Deep Purple, released in June 1988 on Mercury Records. It was assembled from shows on the tour for The House of Blue Light, played across Europe and the United States in 1987. It follows the band's 1984 reunion record Perfect Strangers and sums up what the group were playing on stage at the time: much of the familiar Made in Japan set, alongside newer material from those two recent albums. Tracks are separated by fades rather than crowd noise.
The fun is in the detail. "Hard Lovin' Woman" borrows from "Under the Gun" during Blackmore's guitar solo, "Strange Kind of Woman" takes in the "Superstar" chorus from Jesus Christ Superstar, and "Woman from Tokyo" slips into Buddy Holly's "Everyday" halfway through. There is also a new studio-live take on "Hush", marking the band's twentieth anniversary.
