Live in Verona
Live in Verona captures Deep Purple, billed here as Deep Purple with Orchestra, playing alongside the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt under conductor Stephen Bentley-Klein. It was recorded on 18 July 2011 at the Arena di Verona, the Roman amphitheatre first built in 30 AD, and it features the band's mk VIII line-up.
It was released on 8 October 2014, and it also exists as a concert film. For anyone who has followed the band from Machine Head through to Now What?!, it shows how Deep Purple's hard rock sits alongside a full orchestra, in one of the oldest performance spaces still in use. That setting is a big part of the appeal.
