The Best of Deep Purple: Live in Europe
The Best of Deep Purple: Live in Europe is a compilation of live recordings by the English hard rock band, released in 2003 on the CD Double Play label. It was issued in the US the same year.
It arrived in the middle of a long and busy career. Deep Purple formed in early 1968 and put out their debut, Shades of Deep Purple, that July. By 2003 the line-up had changed many times, and Ian Paice was the only original member still in the band. That same year they also released the studio album Bananas, so this set sits alongside a band still making new music. For listeners who like their Purple on stage rather than in the studio, it offers a live selection drawn from European performances.
