Album
=1
=1 is Deep Purple's 23rd studio album, released on 19 July 2024 through earMUSIC. It is the first record to feature guitarist Simon McBride, who took over from Steve Morse in 2022, and it marks a fresh chapter for a band that has been through more line-up changes than most of its peers.
Bob Ezrin produces, as he has for every Deep Purple album since Now What?! in 2013. This is their fifth outing together, so the partnership is well established. For fans who have followed the band through its later run of albums, including Infinite, Whoosh! and Turning to Crime, it's a chance to hear how McBride's playing slots into the Purple sound, and how that long working relationship with Ezrin carries on into a new era.
