When We Rock, We Rock and When We Roll, We Roll
When We Rock, We Rock and When We Roll, We Roll is a Deep Purple compilation gathering some of the band's best-loved songs from 1968 to 1974. It was put together by Dennis C. Nicklos and issued by Warner Bros. Records in 1978, with the US release following in October of that year.
It was a regional release, available only in North America and Japan. Other markets got a companion collection, The Deep Purple Singles A's and B's, which came out at the same time. The span covers the band's run from Shades of Deep Purple through to Burn and Stormbringer, so it works as a quick tour of the early and mid-seventies line-ups. For anyone curious about that stretch of the catalogue, it offers a compact way in.
