Live in Concert at the 2006 Montreux Festival
This live set captures Deep Purple at the Montreux festival in 2006, during the tour for Rapture of the Deep. It was the first live release from the band's Mk VIII line-up, and it came out on earMUSIC Classics on 12 June 2007. The concert film also appeared on DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray.
The CD runs to twelve tracks. Four come from Rapture of the Deep, then the band's most recent studio record, while seven reach back to the Mk II line-up, six of them from Machine Head. The twelfth is a keyboard solo from Don Airey. It's a good way to hear how the later Purple balanced fresh material with the songs that built their name in the early 1970s.
