Last Concert in Japan
Last Concert in Japan is a live Deep Purple album, released on 16 March 1977 through Warner Bros. Records. It was recorded at the Tokyo Budokan on 15 December 1975 and captures the final Japanese show by the Mark IV line-up, the version of the band that featured guitarist Tommy Bolin. The record is dedicated to him, and it went gold in Japan.
It belongs to the closing chapter of the band's first run, following Come Taste the Band in 1975, and it shows how that short-lived line-up sounded on stage. The original release gathered only selected tracks from the night, so it works as a snapshot rather than the full evening. Anyone wanting the whole concert can turn to This Time Around: Live in Tokyo, which presented the complete show in 2001.
