Meteora
Meteora is the second studio album by Linkin Park, released on 25 March 2003 through Warner Bros. Records. It arrived after Reanimation, the remix collection built from their debut Hybrid Theory, and was produced by the band with Don Gilmore. The title comes from the Greek Orthodox monasteries that originally carried the name. It is also the first Linkin Park studio album to feature bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell, who rejoined in 2000.
Recording took almost a year, and critics found the sound close to Hybrid Theory's blend of rap, metal and electronics. Some felt it stuck too closely to that template, but reviews were generally positive, and the singles tell their own story: "Somewhere I Belong", "Faint", "Numb", "From the Inside" and "Breaking the Habit" kept the album in play for over a year. It entered the Billboard 200 at number one with more than 810,000 first-week sales, and the instrumental "Session" earned a Grammy nomination.
